Throughout the college year, you will have the opportunity to get involved in trips, sports sessions, volunteering opportunities and awareness events. You can be involved in as much or as little as you like.

Taking part in organised activities will look great on your CV or UCAS application and we also hope that it will contribute to a great college experience.

Being a Class Rep is your chance to make a difference to you and your class.

You will attend monthly faculty forums where you will meet with other class reps and college staff.

The purpose of the forum is to give you and your class the opportunity to discuss issues and work together to organise events. These Reps also have the chance to become a Site Rep, who will attend the Student Council. This is a cross college group that meets to discuss wider college issues such as the refectory, end of term events and themed weeks.

When you join us here at Nottingham College you will become an automatic member of the Nottingham College Students’ Union.

The Students’ Union is run by students for students and you get the opportunity every year to vote for who want to lead your SU. Maybe one of them could be you! Your reps have direct access to the leadership team of the whole College to make sure that the voices of our students are heard and responded to.

The Students’ Union is set up to ensure that you as a student get the best service available to you from the college when it comes to your education. As well as this the SU will ensure that your time at college is as enjoyable as possible by arranging various trips and activities.

This is YOUR college and YOUR experience so the SU work with the college to ensure that you have the experience that you want to gain the skills and development need for your future.

If you’re interested in becoming a Student Governor, you need to apply and campaign for the position and then there will be a college-wide election where all students will be able to vote for who they want to be Governor.

The successful Student Governors will attend the Student Council Meetings and also the College’s Governor Meetings.

All students, when they receive their college entitlement card, automatically become democratic voting members of the National Union of Students.

This is a national union lobbying and representing student issues across the UK.

While at college, you may be able to undertake work experience. This is a great opportunity to experience the world of work and will enhance your CV!
