Course Introduction

This qualification is for you if you are aged 19+ and wish to work as an electrician in the building services industry.

It has been designed to deliver a high level of occupational skills and provide a platform from which to progress through further learning or into employment.

This vocational route at level 3 is a vital step towards becoming a competent electrician.

The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the skills required within the electro-technical sector. You will cover compulsory aspects such as:

  • working safely and effectively
  • design, construct, test and commission electrical systems
  • methods of supervision
  • electrical science and principles
  • regulations and law
  • diagnosis and repair of electrical faults.

Local employers will also contribute to the knowledge and delivery of training, demonstrations and talks on the industry.

This theory based course interspersed with small group practical sessions running over two to three days a week.

Aged 19 or over?

If you don't already hold a Level 3 qualification (equivalent to at least two A Levels, or a Level 3 vocational qualification), you can now study this course fully funded!

If you are aged 16-18 without having achieved a Level 3 qualification, you will also be eligible for full funding.

Course Information

Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation

Level 3

You must be aged 19+ to apply for this course.

You will need a full level 2 Electrical Installation qualification or have relevant industry experience within this subject.

To gain this qualification, candidates must successfully achieve the following assessments:

  • One externally set, externally moderated assignment (Practical)
  • One externally set, externally marked exams, sat under examination conditions
  • Portfolio of evidence to show your work experience and engaged with employers

This qualification is graded Pass/Merit/Distinction/Distinction.

This technical qualification focuses on the development of knowledge and practical skills needed for working in the electro-technical industry, which will prepare you to enter an electro-technical apprenticeship programme.

On completion of an Electrical Installation Apprenticeship, you will be recognised by the industry as competent as an installation or maintenance electrician.

Students aged 16-18 don't have to pay tuition fees.
