Advanced Fashion - Part-time

These courses are designed for students who have completed our introductory courses and are ready for the next step in developing their skills and techniques or for anyone starting a HE Fashion course in October who needs a reminder of techniques and machinery.

Before completing one of these courses we recommend taking part in our introductory courses in Knit, textiles, Sewing or craft if you don't already have some experience of sewing and pattern cutting.

• Advanced Fashion Introductions
  • Advanced fashion introductions includes a recap to some key fashion techniques in sewing, pattern cutting, drafting and manufacture as well as sketchbook tips and tricks.
• Advanced Pattern Cutting
  • Advanced Pattern Cutting will recap basic techniques and build on these to develop more creative and technical skills with advanced pattern cutting including cuffs, collars, reveres, jacket and outerwear details as well as volume and shape creating manipulation.
• Advanced Sewing
  
  • Advanced Sewing will recap basic techniques and build on these to develop more creative and advanced techniques such as twin-needle stitching, a range of seams and hems, binding machine and sewing more intricate details such as sleeve insertion and collars.
• Advanced Creative Project
  • The Advanced Creative Project will be the opportunity for you to work on a complete garment to apply skills developed previously or from our other Advanced Fashion courses. You will have tutor guidance throughout but also the freedom to make creative design decisions to customise your final garment manufacture. The course is perfect for anyone applying to University who is looking to develop their portfolio further or refresh their skills.
• Advanced Tailoring Components
  • This course will include in-depth constructions of samples which you can apply to your own patterns and creations. Each session has time for you to work on your self-led project with the guidance of our expert tutor who can demonstrate additional components. Sessions include demonstrations and manufacture of a fly front, advanced pockets, set in sleeve, linings and facings and components of students choice.
