Course Introduction

This course is perfect if you want to pursue a career within the hospitality industry and plan to work in a supervisory or management role.

You’ll learn the importance of leadership in this industry and all the skills that make up being a good leader. These include as clear communications, excellent customer service, motivational techniques and management of staff, rotas, customer issues, and health and safety requirements. You’ll plan events and supervise front of house in our brand new commercial restaurant in the heart of Nottingham at our City Hub campus to put your learning into practice and continue developing.

You can expect practical supervisory experience in our brand new commercial restaurant in the heart of Nottingham at our City Hub campus. You’ll gain a real insight into the industry, interact with a diverse mix of customers – public and internal customers – as well as taking part in restaurant takeovers with some of our partner restaurants across the county. There will be practical and theory-based assignments in order to assess your knowledge and understanding of this growing, vibrant sector.

Aged 19 or over?

If you don't already hold a Level 3 qualification (equivalent to at least two A Levels, or a Level 3 vocational qualification), you can now study this course fully funded!

If you are aged 16-18 without having achieved a Level 3 qualification, you will also be eligible for full funding.

Course Information

Level 3 City & Guilds NVQ Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership

Level 3

You’ll need 5 GCSEs at grades 9–4 (A*–C), including English Language and Maths – both of these must be grades 9–4 (A*–C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths. You can also gain a place by having a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification with English and Maths GCSE grades 9–4 (A*–C).

Relevant industry experience would also considered.

You will be assessed through practical tests and written assignments.

Choose to follow with degree-level study in one of our hospitality management or business courses. Alternatively you could move straight into employment in a variety of supervisory roles, or perhaps into events management.

There is an additional material cost for kit, equipment and uniform which must be purchased prior to enrolment. This can be discussed at interview.

Students aged 16-18 don't have to pay tuition fees.
